Halcyon Biomedical Branding

Halcyon Biomedical Branding

June 26, 2017 by Andrew Ley

The Problem

Halcyon Biomedical creates innovative medical technologies that help to examine and analyse blood. They specialise in working with ‘microfluidics’ to passively filter and separate blood into its component parts for analysis.

They required a new logo that represented the technology they use in an accessible manner. The chosen logo also needed to be suitable for use on a variety of unusual applications such as the medical devices the company produces.

The Solution

My proposal takes a very simple and stylised approach, creating a simple three-line logo to represent the flow of blood through the passive filters that Halcyon produce.

The simplicity of the logo and wordmark make it suitable for a wide number of applications on all manner of materials; from being embossed onto the small medical components the company produces to being embroidered on lab coats.

Restricting the branding to a monotone black and grey palette creates a serious and confident tone, allowing Halcyon to establish a sense of trust with its target audience of medical professionals.
