The Problem
The South West Mother and Baby Show is an event that brings together local businesses specialising in products and services for parents of young children.
Jo and Emily, the founders and organisers, came to see me when they had the initial idea to run the event. They needed a brand that would present a professional image during their outreach to potential exhibitors and sponsors.
Finally, as they were funding the event themselves and no income had been generated at this point, they wanted the logo produced quickly and with a tight budget.
The Solution
During a meeting with Jo and Emily I produced a few preliminary sketches for their logo. One of the ideas was a traditional-style pram with the angle between the hood and the base forming an arrow pointing south-west. It was this logo we chose to develop further.
The final logo features this pram icon housed in a simple circular shape, with the placement of the text creating either a horizontal or vertical format. The elements can also be used independently—with the circular pram icon being ideal for use as a social media avatar.
The fresh green and soft purple colour palette create a calm and gentle feeling that is entirely appropriate for this event, whilst avoiding the soft pink and baby-blue colours used so often in this market.
This brand allowed Jo and Emily to quickly create consistently branded websites, marketing materials and social media channels. The profesional image created helped them to attract a number of sponsors and exhibitors to make their event a success.
